As cynical as it may sound, I think there are certain politicians from a particular political party who want the price of fuel to be high. The Democrat Party has but one goal this November: to win the White House. What better way to achieve such a goal than to implement as much economic suffering on the American people as politically feasible between now and the November elections. Most Americans associate economic well-being, whether good or bad, with the President of the United States with Congress often escaping blame or receiving credit. Because of this mindset, President Bush will be associated with our economic suffering in spite of the fact that many of the problems with our economy are directly related to economic policy pushed by Congress.
If I’m wrong then what is the explanation for the overwhelming number of Democrats voting over and over again against legislation such as; coal to liquid technology (78% of House Dems voted against), oil shale exploration (86% of House Dems voted against), outer continental shelf exploration (83% of House Dems voted against), and increased refining capacity (96% of House Dems voted against). Most Americans believe politicians are the most corrupt group of people around. We all agree most politicians will do whatever necessary to be elected. It is my contention that we are experiencing the “whatever necessary” part right now with the economic policies being pursued by Congress. These people are so consumed with the lust for power they are willing to destroy our economy.
Of course, by accepting my assertion, one must suspend the idea that may also be the case. Perhaps the Democrat Party has gone so far left it really sees America as evil. Maybe the Democrat Party no longer exists and in its place has risen a Marxist faction intent on destroying this great nation. Do they view this country as one that uses all the world’s resources and gives nothing in return? Do they think America needs to be punished?
These ideas may sound loony but I’m not implementing economic policy. At least my lunacy only affects me. Meanwhile insanity reigns supreme on Capitol Hill and believe me, everything those losers do affects all of us. They wouldn’t have it any other way.
